There are two types of calculations you can create: 1. **Add Calculation** – this allows you to create a formula for example to calculate the maximum of a number of gradable items. 2. **Add Total Calculation** – specify which gradable items should be tallied up or which gradable items/categories should be weighted. ![types of calculaions](https://cdn.document360.io/8ea693b1-555d-4973-acf4-f29e9965c563/Images/Documentation/types%20of%20calculaions.PNG) Each of these will be discussed on the pages to follow. ## Add calculations To add a calculation in the Gradebook, follow these steps: | From Grid View | From List View | | --- | --- | | * Go to the place you want to add the calculation | * Go to the place you want to add the calculation | | * When you place your mouse over the lines between the columns, you will see the + to click on | * Move the mouse over the line between gradable items and click on the + | Choose the type of calculation you want to add: 1. **[Add Calculation](/v1/docs/add-calculation-formula)** – a formula 2. **[Add Total Calculation](/v1/docs/semester-mark-calculation)** – total or weighted. The Semester Mark is an example of where you can use the Add Total Calculation option. The Current Grade is a calculated item you build to show students a weighted summary of the items you grade and post in their Grades area. Take note: - For Semester Modules, this will be the Semester Mark calculation. - For Year Modules, this will be the half-year Progress Mark.
