# Knowledge checks in Ultra documents

You can create quick, informal knowledge checks for students on an Ultra Document.

:::(Warning) (Auto-generate knowledge check question)
You can also auto-generate a knowledge check question. This option allows instructors to create just‑in‑time formative assessments using AI‑generated questions based on the content of their Document and any selected course materials.

### Results
Results on the Knowledge check are shown above each question, in the following format:

:::(Info) (Note)

* Students' results for the Knowledge checks are **not** recorded in the Gradebook.
* The difficulty level is set to "Hard" when a question is created. It will adjust dynamically based on student responses.
* Lecturers can view each student's progress status (Unopened, Started, Marked as Complete) on the Student Progress tab of the Knowledge check.
