# Roles

Roles determine what a user can and can't do within clickUP. Every user associated with a role has all of the privileges included in the role. Each user is assigned a role for each course in which they participate.

The requirements of the[**UP iGapp programme**](https://www.up.ac.za/iGaPP-programme/article/2719878/information-governance)should be adhered to when deciding which roles to allocate to users.
