Can I assign a Grade Category to a Calculated Column?
Currently, calculated columns cannot be assigned to Grade Categories.
A possible workaround is to create a separate Gradable Item, download the calculated results, copy the results into the new item’s column, and upload the file to the Gradebook. This can only be done once the calculation has been completed. (For step-by-step instructions click here.)
We do not recommend using this approach for calculations that may still change. The uploaded values are static and disconnected from the live Gradebook calculation. If a mark used in the original calculation changes, the uploaded Gradable Item will not update automatically and may become inaccurate.
If your module requires a complex calculation or a calculated result that must contribute to another category, please make a booking with your Instructional Designer before setting it up.
