How do I use "Grading Rules" to drop the lowest mark in a category?

You can apply Grading Rules within a weighted calculation to drop the lowest mark or include only a specified number of the highest marks in a category. Depending on the calculation required, an Advanced Calculation using functions such as MAX or MIN may also be appropriate.

The most important requirement is that every assessment must be assigned to the correct Grade Category. If an assessment is assigned to the wrong category, it will not be included or excluded as intended.

When a weighted calculation uses a rule such as dropping the lowest mark or including only the highest marks, students can see an explanation of how the calculated item was determined. This helps make the calculation more transparent.
