**What is the difference between posting and not posting marks, and how does it affect calculations?

As an instructor, you can see marks entered in the Gradebook even before they are posted.
Students, however, can only see marks and feedback once the marks have been posted and the assessment or Gradebook item is visible to them.
Posting and visibility are not the same thing:
- Posting makes the grade officially available for release and allows it to feed correctly into relevant university data processes. Only marks that are posted are included in the calculations that the student sees.
- Visibility determines whether students can access the assessment or Gradebook item in clickUP.
An item can therefore be posted but still hidden from students.
REMEMBER to always hide the Exam mark!
It is essential to post all completed marks, including examination marks.
If an examination contributes 50% to the Final Mark but its marks have not been posted, the data available to the university’s systems may be incomplete. For example, only the semester component of 50 may be available, rather than the complete Final Mark of 100. This may incorrectly suggest that students have not passed the module.
Before final marks are processed, confirm that:
- all assessments have been graded;
- all required marks have been posted;
- the examination marks have been posted;
- assessments are assigned to the correct categories; and
- the Final Mark calculation includes all the required components.
