To ensure a smooth start to the semester, we strongly recommend setting up and verifying your Gradebook before students gain access to your module.
Investing a little time before the semester begins will save considerable time later. A correctly configured Gradebook automatically calculates marks as assessments are graded, provides students with an up-to-date indication of their progress through the Current Grade, and reduces the risk of calculation errors during the semester.
Reusing Your Previous Gradebook
If your Gradebook was correctly configured in the 2025 presentation of your module, we recommend using a Full Course Copy when preparing your 2026 Semester 2 module.
A Full Course Copy transfers your Gradebook structure, including calculations, categories, grading schemas and settings, meaning you do not need to recreate everything from scratch. Once a Gradebook has been set up correctly, it can easily be reused in future presentations of the module.
Always DELETE the PS_ Columns. You need to go through the Grade Import process again to get the new year's PS_Column's created in the new course.
Before Your Module Opens
Please ensure that your Gradebook:
- Reflects the assessment structure described in your study guide.
- Includes a Current Grade calculation to provide students with an indication of their Semester Mark.
- Includes a Semester Mark calculation.
- Includes a Final Grade calculation (where applicable).
- Uses the correct assessment categories and weightings.
- Have all calculations been verified before students begin submitting assessments?
Creating Gradebook calculations is only the first step. It is equally important to verify that the calculations produce the correct results. An incorrectly configured Gradebook can affect marks throughout the semester, making corrections later far more time-consuming.
